It's Snowing!

Hello Lovelies,

FINALLY!  It's snowing here in NYC!  I've been waiting for this!  (and it's sticky snow - perfect for making snow men!)  I know I'll be making myself a snow man -- complete with a snow present to give me on snow-Valentines day. 

So I had one great and one terrible audition this past week!  I went to the Merry-Go-Round Playhouse audition on Sunday morning (they're doing Les Miz, Little Shop, All Shook Up and are also doing  a show that I was in the original cast back in Minnesota).   SO, I walked into the audition hoping for it to go well, because they knew about this show that only the folks in MN usually know about!  

Well, let me tell you, I SUCKED!  Laid a big egg in the room.  

I was so prepared to sing "Anything But Lonely" from Aspects of Love (to be considered for Fantine) and it just blew.  Big time.  

All the notes came out OK, but I had no connection with my imagined scene partner, I didn't hold the last note out liked I wanted to & pretty much was so tired that I felt like I was drunk.  

(Come to think of it, I probably would've given a better audition if I were drunk.  Must try that sometime...)

Oh, well - you gotta have some bad ones to appreciate the good ones!

BUT on Monday I did the chorus call for the new musical 9 to 5 (based on the movie) at Telsey & Co.  It went VERY well!  I sang Sara Evan's "Born to Fly" and ROCKED IT OUT!  Felt really good about how it sounded and also how I communicated with my "scene partner"!  Also, I took the beginning slowly and then sped up after 2 bars - this worked GREAT!  (that's a technique I learned from Jen Waldman!  Love it!)

Today I'm working at my personal assistant gig on the Upper East side & it's been a busy day!  Dinner reservations, car reservations, ordering orchids from the florist (see pic below!),

 looking at dresses on e-bay, playing with the two-year old & now off to get bras for the Lady of the House at La Perla.  (god that store is FANCY!  I'm so surprised that they don't ask me to leave when I go in there - I don't look like an UES tennis mommy....)

Tomorrow I have an audition for Pittsburgh CLO -- hoping that goes well!  Now it's time to go to the post office & return some stuff to Neiman Marcus & then off to Jen Waldman's AWESOME audition class!

I Love my Job!

Well lovelies, I blog a lot about my musical experiences and none of that could happen if it weren't for my personal assistant job & the Lovely Upper East Side Family supporting me!  (Both financially & emotionally!)  So this perticular blog is for them!  

Today's fun errands for the Lady of the House include running to the florists to pick up a fancy 

orchid & specify which type & delivery method; Go to the Post Office & mail back fancy purse 

and fancy digital photo frame to their respective companies (Vivre and Aluratek...) 

And then continue with my project of downloading all 10,000 photos from the Mac Book Pro to CD's.  (God love the Toast Program!  It rocks my world - I've already done all the video to DVD footage & that's taken me only 2 days!)  

Plus I get to nanny for the cutest little boys in the world when the full time nanny has her days off!  (HHC who is almost 2 years old and TSC who is 4 months!)  They are the best!  Truly...  

They call me "Auntie" and I love every second & would do anything for them!  Such happy & fun little boys!  I never thought I'd be able to love another persons child SO much - but I guess I can!  

When I moved to NYC in June of 2006 I had just ended a great personal assistant gig in Minnesota!  (I also dabble in home organization - but that's a whole other field that I've yet to really get into!)  So I was working at the Pan Asian Palace as a hostess in Times Square and also working for a furniture store in chinatown - busy right?? Well, I wasn't able to make the bills, nor did I have any time to audition!  (Which is what I came out to NY to do!)  

I applied like crazy online for personal assistant jobs and Lady of the House was the only person who got back to me.  It must have been meant to be!  I was one out of 10 girls that were interviewed and I got it!  Hooray!  The family is just delightful because they are SO nice and SO kind!  I just love them!  And they can put up with my crazy audition schedule!  (and they love me!)  Is it just like the Nanny Diaries??  NOT AT ALL!!!  :)  

Life just really couldn't be any better!  I've got a great job, I'm persuing my dream & I've aquired a "second family" within a two years of being in NYC!  

Now I've gotta run & get an orchid...
