Great Cards & Big Dreams...

Lovelies, I have received some lovely birthday cards in the mail this past week!  One of which was a thank you card from my friend Yimmy who stayed with me the 2 weeks ago!

I was kind of down & out, and wavering about my career the other week when he was visiting and gave me some good advice.  And then I got this AWESOME thank you card in the mail from him & wanted to share it with you all!  (And you don't have to believe what I believe to appreciate it  - it's just a really nice card and a good reminder to keep moving forward!)

It's titled "Live with Faith and Your Path in Life Will Become Clear".

As we take our journey through life, we often wonder what will bring us fulfillment.  We have a vague sense that we may have a calling, yet we do not know which way to go.  Always remember that true happiness and purpose will be found in relationships with each other and with God.  It is often through sharing your gifts and talents that your path in life will become clear.  It is when you are "giving" that others can see in you that which is known as "your best self."  Pray, be open to guidance and remember, God Takes Care of your Dreams.

(I actually teared up a little typing it!)  What a great message!  I love that part that talks about when you share things with others that your path becomes clear.  It's about the process, the journey - not the end result!

I carry the card in my purse now & try to look at it several times a day!

(oh and it's from a company called Blue Mountain Arts, should you want to purchase some for your family members...)

What to do?? What to do??

Lovelies, for my musical theatre class we had to write out our plans (one sheet for each time period) for: 1 week, 1 month, 6 months, 1 year, 5 years, 10 years and 20 years. It's very exciting as I'm a very ambitious girl when it comes to the career and such!

Some of my goals were financial based, and that was a real eye-opener. I discovered that at some point I want to be a homeowner and also that I'd like to have a decent slush fund as well as retirement fund... And I usually don't think a lot about the moo-lah, so that was interesting for me...

Now most of the 1 month, 6 month 1 year and 5 year goals include: get a date for New Years at least once, get a callback for a Broadway show, get an agent, work on new website layout, read at least 30 new books, see 20 Broadway shows, etc...

The 10 year one is the real shocker, as my top three goals shifted from being theatre-based to family based. 1. Being Happily married to an awesome guy! 2. Having 2 healthy and happy children 3. Seeing my family between 8-10 times per year.... with "Summer in Minnesota???" in parentheses... But directly after is "In 10 years I hope to have done 4 Broadway shows or more, 1 national tour, and visited Thailand or India (perhaps on my honeymoon.)"

Ambitious, much??

But seriously - the exercise was really fun to do! And very informative about myself and my goals! (some of which I didn't even think of before!) Also, it made me think that no matter how much I plan, things might not work out the way I intended. But that's OK! It's what keeps life interesting!

...And it made me think of the little things I want to do - like be kissed along the Seine in Paris... I want to do that sometime! I'm such a romantic!

So, my Lovelies: What are your little or big "To-Do's"??

I'm so curious to hear!

Old Friends are great!

Today I was fortunate enough to have my teeth cleaned and also visit with some great family friends. (Random yes, but Les randoms was already taken as a blogging name - so my ADD is taking over & you all get to take a peek into my day today...)
SO the teeth cleaning went fairly well until she did that scrappy, scrappy thing. Uugh. I hate that metal on teeth noise. (Is anyone else with me there??) Anywho, got my pearly whites even whiter & then the doctor came in... Needless to say, I thought I was going to have a perfect exam as usual. Not so, friends... Not so.

I have 3 freakin' cavities!! WHAT??!! Cavity free for 26 glorious years and now I got THREE at once. I brush! I floss! What gives?! So now that's another $450 that's going straight out of my budget! Uugh... I'm taking donations if anyone has an extra chunk of cash laying around.... Just send it to the starving Actress Fund in New York - I should get it...

BUT on the upside I had a lovely meal tonight with the Senora family. (I call them this because it's my former Spanish teacher, her husband & their two lovely daughters - the Senoritas...)

So went to the Senoras home for dinner and Senor Senora had an AWESOME stew made up! (Yum - I love a good meaty stew!) So that was fun!
We chatted & caught up about life, family, books, men, etc. The Senor & Senora of the family are SO cool! Very vibrant & full of life! AND they are involved with a ton of activities! Just up my alley! :)
Got to hear all about Senorita G's ice skating ventures - she's going to go to Prague. She's really REALLY good! Such a young lady now! I can't believe it! And so calm & conversational - just a joy to be around! (...perhaps that comes from being around such a great baby sitter growing up!)
Her little Sister - Senorita C - was totally off the wall. She's a 'tween and is just a hoot! She's jumping on everything and picking up her cats and running all over! Very fun! She also played the Guitar Wars video game on the Wii (is that how it's spelled??) and she was quite good at that! Just a bundle of energy & very sweet!
Both Senor & Senora were doing well - was fun to chat with them. Both were busy with work & such! I was looking around their house & thinking "Gosh, it must be nice to own a home & have stability..."
There's always a little piece of me that wants to say "screw theatre & get a real job!" But let's be honest - If I listened to that voice I'd no longer be a fabulous (unemployed) actress in the city!
So the moral of today's blog: (morals??) 1. Brush your teeth & get regular checkups... but don't get too wigged out if you have a little mishap hear & there. 2. Unexpected meals with family friends are quite pleasant. And, because there's a history there, the people who invited you usually care a lot about you & your well being.... And couldn't we all use more people like that in our lives!
Until next time, your tune-humming blogger,
Miss Musical
